Date Night in Layton? We Know Just What You’re Looking For.

Welcome to March! Now that we are past the pink paper hearts and boxes of chocolates of February, it’s time to start thinking of more “original” ways to show our affection. To take that responsibility off of your busy shoulders, we’ve come up with four great date night ideas (enough to last you the entire month March) to get you headed in the right direction. Without further ado…

CenterPoint Legacy Theatre + Caffé Torino Crepes

If you’d like to go “old school” for your date night, you can’t get much more traditional than a night at the theater. The CenterPoint theater’s 2020 season is full of crowd favorites such as The Newsies, Sister Act and A Christmas Story. From March 13th to April 11th you can enjoy their production of Meredith Nelson’s Music Man. If you click here you can find more information about Music Man and here’s a link to the rest of their 2020 production calendar (scroll down a bit to read more on each title).

Whether you go before or after your show, the crepes from Caffé Torino can be either a sweet treat or a savory dinner. Founded by Mari and Jon Livermore and run by Aaron and Jennifer Abendroth, this caffe is 100% Utah, and 100% heart. Offering a wide selection of hand crafted beverages, delicious paninis, and desserts, this is a must-go for those looking for a delicious bite to eat.

Roosters Brewing Co. + The Great Room Escape

This next idea would be a great one for a multi-couple night out. Whether you want to grab dinner and drinks at Roosters Brewing Co., before or after heading over to The Great Room Escape, you will not be disappointed. Roosters is “Davis County’s first and only micro brewery and boasts what is arguably the city’s most unique menu.”

One of the best things about the Great Escape Room is that you can come in groups of any size and choose your date and time. With that flexibility, the only thing left to do is select the room you would like to play and make your reservations. This is the perfect activity for anyone who enjoys puzzles, riddles, finding clues and won’t crack under pressure! So, gather up some other couple friends and get ready for a night out you won’t soon forget.

Kaysville Theater + Orlandos’s Mexican Restaurant,

There are many things that draw people to the Kaysville Theater: affordable prices, a small town feeling and a convenient location. And honestly, there’s nothing wrong with a traditional “dinner and a movie!” If you haven’t been to the Kaysville Theater, you can find more information about showings here.

For dinner we cannot suggest Orlando’s Mexican Restaurant enough! Their mission statement is very simple: “serve delicious, affordable food that guests will want to return to week after week.” And boy, do they do just that. You can take a look at their flavorful menu here, and be sure to make your reservations ahead of time to avoid a long wait line. They’ve also got great options for serving large groups, so if you’re looking for a special night out with a larger group of friends and family, you really should consider their private dining areas.

Snowshoes + Taggart’s Grill or Carlos and Harley’s

Snowshoeing is a great new variation of “a walk in the park” and is the perfect outdoor activity for the not-quite-spring weather of this time of year. You have your pick of routes and trails, but we recommend keeping it local. This is a great article to help you gear up and go, and then once you’re ready, choose your trail here. The only other thing you need is your partner, some great boots or snowshoes, and you’re ready to go.

If you’re heading out of town to hit up some of the remaining snow, it makes sense to choose restaurants that are close to your hiking route! We are huge fans of both Taggart’s and Carlos and Harley’s so we included both on this list. They both have incredibly savory offerings, a great atmosphere, and they’re a bit off of the beaten path so you’re guaranteed to have an experience that is both unique and enjoyable.

I hope this guide helps you out the next time you’re in a rut. If you take us up on any of these suggestions, let me know how it goes!
